This two-day course is intended to take participants through the basic principles of applying IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 by stepping through the safety lifecycle; introducing the key lifecycle activities and the technical requirements for each phase using worked examples and practical’s to provide the delegate with a solid introduction the standards and how to apply them.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course to introduce the key concepts and develop a basic understanding of how a safety instrument system (SIS) is assessed, designed, installed, commissioned, operated, managed and maintained to the required level of risk reduction.

This course assists in developing a basic understanding of the competencies required to manage the SIS from management to technician and is a good introductory course for those wishing to progress to the third party accredited SIS functional safety engineer course.

As this course is not accredited there is no formal assessment, however our team can write a basic competency assessment to suit your needs and provide a certificate of completion.
